Sustainability

As part of our journey to Net Zero, we have implemented many in-house changes, both big and small and are continuing to research new ways in which we can reduce our carbon footprint. Read some of these actions below:

What we are doing?

We've worked with Barclays Net Zero Review to split our focus into four main areas as we aim to reduce our carbon emissions by 2030. Some changes have been easy ones like switching to LED light bulbs or changing the toilet paper we use, others will take more time, like adding information about our carbon footprint to all of our cans and ultimately adding solar panels and ASHP technology to our sites.

The four key areas are:

Energy

From where our energy comes from, how it's generated and how we can use it more efficiently. We use a carbon offsetting energy plan.

Recyclability

From beer packaging to the toilet paper, we're switching to the most sustainable available products like "Who Gives A Crap".

Raw Materials

We strive to always use responsibly sourced materials. Spent grain & hops are distributed to local cattle farmers and staff allotments.

Future Plans

We're committed to closely monitoring our impact on the environment, working with Barclays to calculate our carbon emissions and get to Net Zero.

What else are we doing?

  • We only package into keg, cask or can. The majority of our beer is packaged into keg and cask, these both have a lower carbon footprint than cans due to efficiencies gained in larger volumes and their reusability. However aluminium cans are the next best footprint option after kegs.
  • We are committed to only selling merchandise which is as sustainable as feasible, e.g. using organic and/or recycled organic cotton and recycled polyester.
  • We are committed to becoming a Zero to Landfill company working with Biffa. This will mean none of our waste ever goes to landfill and instead, what cannot be recycled is incinerated to generate energy.
  • We minimise paper use wherever possible, use paperless invoicing and use 100% recycled printer paper.
  • We encourage our team to walk or cycle to their place of work where possible.
